My work is often described as quiet and poetic, but politically charged. Using documentary and performative strategies, my current practice is based on the contemporary situation of Puerto Rico, Post-Maria. I explore ideas of image circulation and representation, identity, colonial history, and climate change. I nourish my work with the information being spread through the media of the events occurring in Puerto Rico, such as the Hurricane Maria disaster or the attempts to decolonize iconic symbols that represent our colonial history. It is because of these circumstances that I produce metaphorical actions of resistance, emotion, and reclamation of power.
